ABOUT ADAM STOLBERG

As a City of Highland Park City Council Member, parent of three young adults,
professional and community volunteer, I have my finger on the pulse of the community daily. Residents appreciate living in a city with high quality services but are concerned about meeting current needs as we face economic and political uncertainty.  I want future generations to come back and raise their families in our hometown.  Since elected to the Highland Park City Council in 2017, I have been consistent in my commitment to thoughtful development that considers sustainable practices, preserves the values and character of Highland Park, and meets the needs of the greater community with attention to the most vulnerable.

The City of Highland Park is moving in the right direction.  As a Council Member, I bring to City Hall my professional and public service experience combined with my deep knowledge and love of our community.  My background in real estate and business has enhanced our focus on the city’s core priorities of fiscal responsibility, infrastructure investment, public safety, and community vibrancy. I have worked closely with my colleagues, staff, sister governments, the business community, and residents on a variety of projects creating policies that are sensitive to the needs of the individual neighborhoods, the environment, and the lifestyle of residents of all ages.  From protecting homeowners, rights to working to make it affordable to locate or stay in Highland Park, I have been your advocate. It has been and honor to serve as your City Council Member.

ADAM STOLBERG BIO

My family moved to Highland Park in 1979. I graduated from the Highland Park Schools, (Red Oak, Edgewood and Highland Park High School) and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. After living in Chicago for a few years, I returned with my wife to raise our three children in Highland Park with the desire for our children to experience a world class education. I ran for City Council in 2017 to fill a vacancy and was elected to my first four year term in 2019.

From 1987 to 2001, I worked for the Park District of Highland Park and coached thousands of Highland Park youths. I developed programming, coached baseball and basketball, and ran the 4th of July parade for 6 years.

In 1991, I founded Stoli Sports Camp for boys.  In our inaugural summer, eighteen Highland Park young athletes enrolled, and it was the summer of my life. Later that
summer, the Highland Park News published a 2-page story on the camp and I was featured on the cover.  The next summer we had over 100 Highland Park boys in the program. In 1993, Stoli Sports Camp became Hi-Five Sports Camp, attended by over 500 children annually, which I ran until 1999.

I was a member of the Chicago Board Options Exchange from 1999-2003. In addition to being a floor trader, I oversaw my firm’s educational and training programs.

I founded Advantage Management, a full-service property management firm, in 2001.  In my role as President and CEO, I oversee the preparation and implementation of over $100,000,000 in annual budgets, maintain all physical aspects of over 110 Community Associations, negotiate bulk cable and utility contracts, implement gas hedging, work with several unions, produce monthly financial statements and implement capital reserve programs with over $10,000,000 in annual capital projects. I have earned the designation of a Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM), which is the highest national designation, awarded by the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and am one of only 1,800 professionals across the country to earn this level of recognition.

Since 2010, I have served as the Executive Director of the Submersible Wastewater Pump Association (SWPA), a global non-profit trade organization.  SWPA is the recognized world leader in educational training for municipal and private submersible wastewater pumping stations, wastewater treatment facility operators and consulting engineers. Our members supply over 80% of the submersible pumps for municipal applications in the United States.
